Diamonds are forever

Diamonds are forever…

Almost every lady desires to be given a diamond ring when asked for a hand in marriage, to the consternation of the suitor. While some are modest, considering the cost of the jewel, it is still the innermost desire of every woman to posses a diamond ring. What makes a diamond so attractive and…so costly.

One factor is their indestructibility. This is where the phrase “diamonds are forever” was gotten from. Another factor is the glitter and sparkle when they are held in light. This is what endears the gemstone to many. However, it may surprise you that this indestructible gem started out in existence as a common charcoal.

Yes, diamonds have their origin in coal and soot, that black dirty thing that you never wish to hold in your hand. They are formed from these carbon materials in the earth’s crust under extreme temperature and pressure. In the process, the carbon atoms within the materials are fused together to form the indestructible diamond. It is actually the extreme heat and pressure that does the job, coupled with time, because coal and crude oil are both formed from the same starting materials. However they do not all end up as diamonds.

The point to note is this, whatever situation you are going through now in your life that makes it feel like you are under intense pressure which your cannot bear, have no fear because you are in a process of being made into a living diamond, indestructible and priceless. Now we must understand that nothing ever happens to a christian by accident, I mean the christian who has yielded himself totally to the leading of God. Nothing ever happens by accident. Every event in your life is orchestrated to bring out the best in you, the diamond in you, unless you would like to be like coal, soon to be burnt and turned to ashes.

So what do we do when we are in the “process?”

First, understand that the process is not for your destruction but for your glory. Keep a firm focus on God and not on the other people around who have opted to be “Coal.” Keep the company of other “diamonds” or “diamonds-in-process.” Live a life of praise and thanksgiving always. Let patience have its way so that the process may be complete.

At the end, I can assure you that you are going to come out glittering and sparkling, the center of all attention but only a few will know that you have gone through a process, just like many do not know that diamonds were once simply coal.

If you ever feel like quitting under the pressure, remember…diamonds are forever!
