One of the ways by which we can win in 2011 is to have an overwhelming positive attitude. Yes, you have heard this before. In fact, I did a search on the word “attitude” and google returned 92,000,000 hits while “positive attitude” returned 5,140,000 hits. Now if the idea is prevalent why are we not seeing its effects around us.
The truth is that the most difficult habit to cultivate is a postive attitude. Our entire existence thrived on negativity. Everyday the news and all forms of media pump out negativity in torrents and the funny thing is that a part of our human nature loves to hear this. Nothing sells like bad news…ask some of our local newspapers about this. Sadly, this culture has spread to our churches also and you find out that preachers cannot raise stirring prayer points without a bit of negativity. This is in contrast to the foundation of eternal life, which is faith – a higher form of positive attitude.
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
Friend, the way to assured and continuous victory is having a positive attitude. In the midst of the all the negativity that besiege our senses – the stock reports, the budget cuts, the job cuts, the security issues, faith is the way to victory. The one who can maintain this strong sense of victory will always come out victorious…all the time.
Now, how do we cultivate and maintain this kind of winning mindset? There are two ways I will deal wit here. First, cut down on all negative influx into your mind. You have to rid yourself of your love for the morbid and bad news. Years back, I made this kind of choice when I stop viewing this programme called “Iriri Aye.” What these negative information does is to feed your fear and doubt until they engulf you. Truth, even if you know these things, you still have no power over them. So why give away your winning edge. Now this goes for all source of negative information – news, friends, etc. Secondly, feed on a source of positive news and the greatest source of this is the word of God. Read and meditate on the the word of God. Get to know His promises and His thoughts concerning you. After you have read it, pray it into existence. Let the “the Word became flesh” and dwell in you. Make it a choice today, that you will always expect the best, the good and to win. Stop expecting things to go wrong.
Consider this a reminder of the things you already know. Your sure way to staying above the waves this year is to have an overwhelming positive attitude, that all will turn out well.
