Is Opportunity Knocking On Your Door?

There is a common saying that “opportunity knocks on the door.” Is opportunity knocking on your own door? Have you wondered why some people seem to get so many opportunities when you haven’t seen any at all? Perhaps your door may be missing out on some things. Check out some of them below.

There is no door without a structure. Your door must be hanging on a structure, whether a house, a fence, a wall, etc. If opportunity is not knocking on your door, perhaps your door is just standing by itself. No sane person would knock on that door.

Lesson: Your life should have a structure, a plan, or a goal.

Location matters. Where are you? If opportunity is not knocking on your door, perhaps your house (or life) isn’t located well. A house in the city will naturally have a higher probability that its door will be knocked than a house in the wilderness. Who would knock on a door in the wilderness?

Lesson: Position yourself for opportunities through your networks, associations, and vocation.

A single door or a revolving door. Are you designed to take on multiple opportunities, or can you only access one opportunity at a time? Versatility is a prime factor in the path to success. If you observe great people, they know how to do more than one thing. You can increase your chances by developing multiple skills and multiple interests.

Lesson: Don’t be a one-way traffic mind. Develop multiple skills. Learn new things outside your core area of interest. Be versatile.

Good Response Time? If there is a knock on your door, how long does it take you to find the key and open the door? That’s your response time. A couple of times, opportunity knocks on our door, but by the time we open the door, it has moved on. In order to take on more opportunities, you have to be quick in mind and in action.

Lesson: Be quick

Your brand. Like we said earlier, doors don’t stand alone, they form part of a structure. What makes people knock on the door of your house? They want to enter to do something. So, the kind of structure determines the kind of people who knock on your door. Remember, banks have doors, and so do toilets. We knock on both.

Lesson: Be a great brand—dressing, speech and attitude

We hope that you have learned some valuable lessons here. If you have any other way to increase the probability of opportunities, please share in the comments below.
